Advanced e-discovery program to launch in 2021

An advanced e-discovery certificate program produced in partnership by the Bolch Judicial Institute of Duke Law School and the Electronic Discovery Institute (EDI) is slated to launch online in early 2021.

Taught by industry-leading experts, the 11-course program is designed to offer students and developing professionals an opportunity to deepen their expertise, refine e-discovery and litigation skills, and connect with industry leaders. Built on the foundation of EDI’s Distance Learning Initiative, the advanced e-discovery program delivers an expert-level curriculum and specific, practical skills training for leveraging and mastering a full range of e-discovery technologies and processes in litigation. (See the full course list and faculty below.)

Duke faculty and alumni comprised the review team for course content. The team included David F. Levi, director of the Bolch Judicial Institute; Professor Thomas Metzloff; Rebecca Rich, clinical professor of law; Tara Emory ’03, director of consulting at Driven Inc.; David Lender ’93, co-chair of the global litigation department at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP; and Hon. Andrew Peck ’77, senior counsel at DLA Piper and a former U.S. magistrate judge.

After completing the 11-course online curriculum, program participants will attend a one day, in-person workshop at Duke’s campus in Durham, N.C., tentatively planned for late 2021 (depending on local regulations regarding COVID-19). Those who complete the online course and in-person session will receive a certificate from the Bolch Judicial Institute.

“This collaboration represents a first-of-its kind program in legal technology education,” said Patrick Oot, co-founder of EDI. “We are so pleased to have the Bolch Judicial Institute’s partnership. The quality of the instruction and material is outstanding.”

More details, including official launch date, pricing, and availability will be announced in early 2021. To receive updates about the program, subscribe here or contact us at bolchjudicialinstitute@law.duke.edu.
